hello everybody, I just wanted to say hi and to introduce myself. I am half Brit, half Yank, and just moved back here after spending 25 years overseas in the Americas. I lived for many years in Southern California, and spent as much time fishing in the ocean as I could get away with. I also spent a few years on the East Coast, fishing in South Carolina, Georgia, and the West Coast of Florida. Now, just because I spent so much time fishing doesn't mean that I am actually any good at it, but I can at least bait my hook and (usually) get it in the vicinity of the water. I love shore fishing, be it from rocks, beach or pier. I plan on going down to Swanage and Wareham soon on a long weekend to test the waters (so to speak). So, if any of you see a short, funnily dressed guy, cussing and swearing with an American accent and a Dexter Wedge securely hooked in his earlobe then it is probably me. Don't hesitate to come up and say hi, but then again, don't hesitate to stay as far away as possible.
Look forward to chatting with everybody, and hopefully we can share some techniques. By the way, does anybody know how to get a Dexter Wedge out of an earlobe?????

hi yankeebrit and welcome to the site.

as for the dexter wedge tie some 200lb mono to it and connect to the tow hitch of a land rover.then get someone to drive off in it.

usually works for me.

Hey Thanks for the tip, my buddy just happens to own a Defender. I am based in Bucks right now, right on the Thames, so I have great freshwater fishing here but I miss the smell of salt and rotting seaweed. I am going over all my options for sea fishing here and it seems like the south coast is going to be my best bet, followed closely by the thames estuary. I really have a thing for flounder, and I want to try using some of the American tactics for them.

Which half is which?

welcome to the site, if you fancy a good days blanking try the South East coast, you don't get troubled with distractions like unhooking fish.

Hi yankeebrit, I fish Swanage area a lot during the summer, will probably see you there. To while away the time before summer comes... have a look at the Mike Ladle site (in the links section) what is not there about lure fishing around Swanage isn't worth worrying about.

The British half is the one that will drink all your beer on a fishing trip, LOL!!!!
I saw that site you mentioned Moonraker and you are right, Ladle knows his stuff. I was wondering what the chances are of some early season bass down there? Any sign of them?
By the way, anybody want to see a picture of a 14 1/2 pound flounder???

Hey yankeebrit - i'd like to see you try and outdrink the Fluff Chucker

As for Mike Ladle - i met him last year and the bloke knows everything possible about plugging, spinning for bass - his site is very compreshensive and well worth the time spent to read it.

And yes we'd love to see any pictures of big ..... fish
