View Full Version : Species Hunt?
Plankton Boy

Just Wondering if any of the admin team would wanna set up a species hunt. :?
I have seen this on a couple of other sites (not as good as this one i add)
And it looks a blast.
Just a case of catching as many species of different kind and submitting a photo in the album. And making up a scoring system.
Wot do you all think.

I kinda like the sound of this one, especially if we can include what you guys call "mini-species". I want to go down and fish off a rock wall somewhere with my 7 foot spinning rod, 4lb main line, and a 3-hook flapper rig with the snoods tied of 2lb test attached to size 16 dry fly hooks. :) 8)

nothing like a species hunt to upset the natives on that other site! I expect that you have read the posts PB and note that it is a sea-angling.org member heading the table. ....... not one to boast but 19 species so far this year and counting.....
yankeebrit ,
most matches limit hook size to size 4 minimum so that is the smallest hook I use (cant see to tie the smaller ones anyway)

I got fed up with rats taking my bait at Milford. So I put a size 8 hook on a bit of line, and baited it with a tiny bit of Sandeel.I placed the bait near the pipe in the wall. And Bingo,2 minutes later I had a rat.I didnt realise they could jump about 4 feet though

Rats have been known to enter the sewerage system, work through the pipes and then surface up through the toilet.
Perhaps I should stay at home and 'fish' eskimo style over the toilet bowl.

site nutter! , well, in retrospect the title seems about right.
as to the braised calamari a la top of colemanlamp , i got damn hungry that night on milford . and it was going to waste with no fish about, mind you lost my appetite after 2 and surpriseingly
didn't throw up.
much to the dissapiontment of the guy i was fishing with.
who incedently supplied some grub for the next trip compriseing of a 3 course meal starting with smoked eel on toast followed by a chicken/bacon and fryed onion dish and to finnish more chicken fillets in a white wine sauce
all cooked to order on the beachwith a gas primus, he was instantly oppointed head chef for following trips.
Brownie no offence taken, GJ.
