Don't know Jimbo.....he says is filled with nails......a jungle cock, maybe as in a wild chicken......and I know cape is a skinned animal (prior to getting stuffed).....:dunno: :loon: :dunno: :loon:

HI ITS A RARE COCKERAL SKIN THAT ARE BRED FOR SPECIALIST FLY TYERS PATTERNS.DONT PANICK THE CHICKEN STEW IS GREAT AND THE SALMON CAUGHT EVEN NICER.

Its used by fly-tyers for cheeks on buzzers or on some lures. for some reason the trout like them and flies with jungle cock cheeks can out fish those without them. Good ones are very expensive but a cape can last for a few years. They tend to be imported though a couple of places rear the cockrels over here, but they are apparently fairly difficult to keep.:beer:

yep the feathers are used for fly tying as fluffy rightly says,
its called a 'jungle cock' cape because the original birds (wild chickens/fowl)were from the jungles of...mmnn india?
prized because of the eye pattern on each hackle feather which helps immitate small fish pattern flys.
the birds themselves have become quite rare in the wild and i beleive are now protected.
hence this cape may make a few bob.
