I have just started fishing again after what is about a five year break for some reason. I got some new equipment and tackle, etc, nothing expensive but good enough to get me going. A Penn 10' spinner and a medium sized fixed spool. I intend to fish off the North Cornwall coast from around Port Isaac up to Bude, its not too far for me to travel there. I like to spin, it keeps you occupied but I also like to throw a float out there and sit back a bit and relax. There's something calming about watching a float, waiting for that twitch and the adrenalin kicks in.
A friend and I went off the rocks at Boscastle the other evening at high tide and I loved it and can't wait to get back there. I'm just waiting for the tide to fall right again in the evening, cause thats the only time I can go really. We managed to catch 7 mackerel between us with feathers, 5 were mine and I went home chuffed. I would have been happy with a bite let alone a catch.
It was all good, finished off with a pint of cold shandy in the pub after.
I have bought some Toby bass lures and fancy my chances at that one evening somewhere, anyone know anywhere. I'd like to catch a bass.

Any how hi to you all. I am looking forward to reading some tips etc, and refresh my memory or even advance my knowledge of how to fish better.

Welcome, look forward to your reports. Havnt been to Cornwall for years (bout 20 years i think lol ) Used to stay in Perranporth and had relatives that came from Penzance, keep meaning to go back again for a holiday, will have to let us know where the good places are to fish.

I had a recky around a few places last evening to see how accessible they were, to fish off a rock ledge or something.

Man, there are some steep cliffs, I should think that most of the North Cornwall coastline is only accessable by boat  .

Though I did find a nice spot near Port Isaac that looks like deep water even at low tide. Crackington Haven looks good at low tide. Sand in the middle with shallow flat rocks on one side, quite a secluded cove/bay. I should think it is good for leggering, some one in a local tackle shop said that it can be good there.

Another place I found looked like it would be a half hour walk down and a steep walk back up again and I was struggling to find somewhere to park in the narrow lane so I didn't check it out now. I was only looking and didn't want to kill myself walking back up just for a look, I'll leave that for when I intend to spend a few hours there. I am hoping its a little used spot as it is off the beaten track and away from roads.

They say the best marks are the hardest to get to but rewarding in the end. I will try it this summer before its too late.

I'm going out mid week when the tides coming in and have a second crack at my new re-found hobbie, fingers crossed.
