Hi, name is Steve, still living in L/Pool for the time being, but as soon as the house sells, off to live in New Zealand.

Not done any fishing for many years - study, work, marriage and kids saw to that. Now managed to talk the wife around to going fishing again (had to use my son as leverage coz she doesn't agree with it, thinks it is cruel)

Just got a Ron Thompson bass rod and Okuma fixed spool from Johnsons tackle shop near to me in Liverpool. Very light compared to my last outfit of beachcaster and multipliers. Unfortunately had to sell all my tackle... ah well.
Decided on light gear coz want to enjoy the sport, and thinking ahead to living in NZ. My mate says that carp are treated like vermin down there (as are all coarse fish btw) so rod will do for that and catfish too. Already got someone who owns a boat to take us out, she regularly goes marlin fishing so got to try that too.

Anyway, enough. Will be surfing the forum and hope to find some good info re-north west locations.

Cheers

Thanks for the welcome folks. Don't mind the bit about the wet in NZ, but lookin forward to the spinning in the surf down there - don't know what species to expect but sure will be fun finding out :)
