Ive only been using a 6500 c3-ct mag for a few month's and was wondering what tip's you can give me. What sort of setting's do you set your reel to cast somthing like a large squid at distance ? I use the penulum cast with a 'U' swing, and at the moment im getting aroung 180-200 yard's with a plain 5oz lead (the cast is fairly smooth).
Thx.

with whole squid.
sports mag , diawa awb 129 , mag is running on 1 block and abu lube .
mags set according to wind conditions . est 120+
(15lb ultima)
7ht, awb 129/122 / wot everelse i put it on. 2blocks, sml. abu lube .
a little end tension if casting into a decent wind.
( 30lb line ) est 100yds running short of line, its thick stuff.
aerlex 8000, century formula 216, no blocks:cheesy: :loon: . what ever i oiled it wi' last . est 120++ ( 28lb braid/ 15 mono.) a head wind kills it though.
and the rods a nasty heavy beastie.
might have to take em all down to a casting tourny and find out distances fer sure if i ever get a weekend off.

big bird nest, or just a little over run at the end of the cast , or does the reel fluff up 1/2 way through?

Nothing too bad,.. the worst time i needed to cut off a fair bit of line as the B/nest was bad. Most of the time i was getting little nest's that i could pick out in a few mins. I ended up only trying about 5-6 times as i was getting a bit mad.
I used one b/block and the mag's set to 2-4, and the spool has about 2 mm play.
Yes its at the end of the cast.

Well i put a couple of star lites on the wires on my grippy when i went fishing at night, it was good thumb training. I could see it hit the water at distance, and learnt summat in the process (it looked very pretty).
Next time i think we are going to try some model rockets, they should alot safer than pendulum casting. Any thoughts how to set up the reel for such a purpose ?:smilie6:

I was thinking we will need a 10/0 with a whole Manky too. Do you think the bait elastic can take it:dunno:

Colin only uses side thrusters on his 5oz weights and can bend em like beckham. A solid fuel booster rocket tends to slow him down (so ive heard).:)
