I live in Trondheim, the middle of norway. I given up spinning in Trondheim, but surfcasting and sea angling here is great. Especially for sharks and whiting.

My best trip till now is 6 hours of fishing after whiting. I got 10 of them, 9 over 2 lbs, three over 4 lbs. The largest was 2750 gram ~=6 lbs.

I hope to learn even more about casting and catch up on some tackle tips on this site, and i hope to contribute in any way that i can.

Tight lines, :smilie14:

Edit: My blog on sea angling: www.kystmeite.no (http://www.kystmeite.no) (norwegian for coastal angling)

Hi Hugo
Welcome to the site, we are all interested to know of the latest fishing tackle and methods used in Norway. I visited Norway on business a few years back (Tonsberg) but didn't get to fish. From what I could make out your country has hunting and fishing as part of the general culture, like football is over here. Also, the prospects looked great, Sharks from the shore!! tell us more.

I'll put out a post about the tripodalarms. It fit nicely in norway, the fish are large and strong. I often use the alarms for whiting. The ones above 2 lbs make great runs in the tide.

Also works great for ling, blackmouths, plaice, cod and pollack. Til now, i've used the sound of my baitrunner as a bite indicator, but with my new alarms, im ready to make som sound from the rocks again. (lost my alarms last fall)

Actually, i've just tried to use hair rigs to sea angling. It worked great for me. The idea is to put a great amount of bait near the hook without the use of larger hooksizes then 5/0. I caught one fish every five minute the first time i tried it. Mostly 2 lbs whiting. I even tried really long strips of herring, 6-7 inches long without the need of a large hook.

I simply fasten the bait to a paperclip (norwegian invention) and thread the paperclip to the loop at the hook (ore in this case, the swivel) and securing both bait and clip with elastic.

Try it, and let me know how it turns out for ya.

Hi Hugo,

Many thanks mate for this excellent contribution, of what I suspect will be the new secret weapon of lots of UK anglers

I'm sure that before long, some one will post a report of how they used this rig and how it worked here in the UK.

Welcome to the forum

Tonight, i am going to try my new tripod bite alarms. The mark has delievered hallibut and large blackmouths the last couple of days. The hallibut was taken from a pier (for tourist ships) by a good friend of mine last friday. 10 lbs.
