Magazine lane for variety, hythe reclaimed, roller mills/the jetty, weston , netley or hamble common all venues ( bar mag' lane, where a short cast will get you into the shipping channel,)are shallow mud flats where you'll most likely find flatties and chequers.
At mag' lane there could be ;- pout, whitting, doggs , sml ray, flats ,bass, someone usualy gives an unconfirmed report of a codling most winters but i'd take it with a pinch of salt. ssssssshhhh, there be smutts here in the spring/summer, and it's well sheltered from s/w storms. fishing from a stone wall with odd street lights but there's rocks at the base of the wall so a fast retreive or lead lifts useful.
I can give detailed directions to the places i used to fish if you need them.
tight lines, Gord. back on line 8 am tue.

Weston, might be worth a try at ;- far right of prominade, by small car park right along side the slipway if no boats launching. Cast short 20-40 ft ok @ h/w or more
magazine lane, aka 'the unmentionable place' directions;- from sotton take the
um.. a35 over the totton causway towards lyndhurst/ ashurst? at first big roundabout ( automated petrol station on left) turn left to fawley / calshot
left again at traff lights before bridge. follow road till you get to mini round about n,r waste incinerator, turn left and follow the road around the long sweeping right hander, the entrance to 'Admrilty quay' housing complex is on your left and you can park and fight yer way through the maze of walls/gates/houses to get to the sea wall if u know how. but if u go past this entrance immeadiatly left is the single track road marked magazine lane ( tis a bit rough) follow it til it turns to gravell and stops at the sea the last gap inthe wall on left is a public car park walk through gap in end of fence and go left accross the silpway and in front of the boat yard
good luck, Gord.

great directions GJ ! just like rally pace notes, if you could just indicate gear changes......
we fished at Netley, off a small side road by the side of a small park, I had two flounder at about 1Lb each and Bruv had one at 1.5Lb, should have taken some lighter tackle for this venue.
tried Magazine Lane,"a bit rough"... do the military use this track as a testing ground for assault craft ??? we caught only little pout and whiting, a lot of them but nothing big.

Hythe fishing for flounders much better than Weston. Also on the same side of harbour as Mag. Lane. Easier to move between two.
Best of luck.
If you go to Hythe. Walk about 400 metres from marina. Fish close in. No more than 30 metres.

Or past the boat yard just through the old gate where theres a short bit of shingle beach at the foot of the wall .
there's a bit of a gravel bar here , fish just next to it.
